Recommended Maintenance Schedule

"Preventative Maintenance"

Manufacturers know that a properly maintained vehicle will be safer, more dependable and last longer. Car makers and owners have a responsibility to make sure emission control components receive regular service to ensure that they are functioning properly. Regular maintenance helps accomplish these goals by keeping your engine running effeciently and eliminating potential problems that may leave you stranded.

The service intervals in this car care manual are recommendations for severe driving conditions such as the temperature extremes we experience in Canada.

Not every procedure will be required in every case, depending on the type of car you own and your driving habits.

The important thing to remember is that regular maintenance at regular intervals may save you hundreds even thousands of dollars in repair bills over the life of your car.

Thank you for placing your trust in us.

Change Oil And Filter

Car manufacturers are recommended oil and filter changes at 7,000 to 10,000 km. We recommend changes every 5,000 km for severe driving conditions. Due to oil contamination caused by gasoline and moisture residue from the combustion process, we consider even driving around town (repetitive short trips) to be severe. Changing your oil and filter removes contaminant's thus prolonging your engine's life.

Tire Rotation

Rotating your car's tires is important for longer tire life. Some cars my not require rotation as often as every 10,000 km; for other cars, 10,000 km is not enough. Watching wear patterns and tire pressures will help your tires last longer.

Emission Control Cleaning

Today's fuels and fuel delivery systems on cars are causing carbon build-up problems on valves and intake manifolds, which can rob you of performance and mileage. A good chemical cleaning once a year will help prevent this build-up.

Maintenance Tune-Up

Replacing spark plugs, ignition rotor & distributor cap if necessary every 40,000 km will help improve gas mileage and keep your car running smoothly for many more kms. If your engine is running rough or is stalling, the maintenance tune-up alone may not cure the problem. Computer controlled engines have many sensore, switches & solenoids that control engine functions. Further testing & repairs may be required to cure poor performing engines.

Grease Chassis

Front end parts on cars support a lot of weight. Greasing is necessary to make these parts last longer (although not all cars have greaseable front end parts).

Automatic Transmission Service/Flush

Automatic Transmissions are constantly shifting up & down, creating a lot of heat in your transmission. Heat can break down transmission oil, preventing it from protecting metal parts & bushings. Having fluid changed every 50,000 km will help your transmission last longer.

Cooling System Flush

Manufacturers recommend that antifreeze is changed every two years. Antifreeze contains chemicals that fight corrosion and supply seals with conditioner. These chemicals deplete over time so flushing and changing antifreeze can help prevent head gasket problems and other cooling system failures.

Valve Adjustment

Some engines have valves that require adjustment every 50,000 km. Not all cars have this need, however. In fact, most cars are equipped with hydraulic lifters requiring no adjustments. But if your engine does have mechanical lifters, adjusting them may save you the cost of a valve job.

Air Filter

Clean Air going into an engine will help it last longer. Generally 56,000 to 90,000 L. (15,000-24,000 gallons) of air pass through the engine for every 4 liter (1 gallon) of gasoline. A dirty air filter can cause poor mileage. Also, air filter quality differs widely, so be sure to buy a good filter to catch all the dirt.

Belts and Hoses

For worry free traveling manufacturers recommend that belts and hoses be replaced every three to four years. The serpentine belts, because they are wider, will last longer and are not as critical as the V-Belts. Hoses may look and feel good, but hoses go bad from the inside out, so looks aren't everything. Replace them and avoid needless worrying.

Oxygen Sensor

An oxygen sensor or O2 sensor, is an input sensor fo ryour car' computer system, sending information to the computer up to 50 times per second. The O2 sensor tells the computer if the engine is running rich or lean and continually collects the mixture of fuel being delivered to the engine. If the sensor gets contaminated it slows down, which can rob performance an gas mileage from your engine. This is strictly a maintenance item.

Hepa Filter

Removes odours & contaminates from the air entering through your heating and air conditioning systems. Service every 50,000 km.
